Upcoming HYT Fun!
HYT MUSICAL: MULAN
This year’s spring musical for HYT is Disney’s Mulan! The auditions for this are approaching quickly, so save the dates! The auditions require each actor to come prepared with a song to sing that shows their strengths. It is helpful if the actor bring’s the piano score so that they can sing along with our piano player. The actors need to also be prepared to do some cold readings from the script which may include group scene work or monologue work. When auditioning, it is always good to not be afraid to take risks or to show all your acting abilities, it is an audition after all! If you have any questions about the show, please email the director Sarah Maxwell at email@example.com or email the Directorial Manager of Horizon Katie Grilliot at firstname.lastname@example.org

The Set Design Class will be in room 208 and the Script Writing class will be in room 211. HYT would like the parents to show that they are there when they drop off and pick up their children, so make sure you check in with us before you drive away! It is only $5 to join drama club and we accept children ages 6-18.
Set Design: (Ages 6-9)
This class is designed for those students who have an interest in the behind the scenes aspects of theater or those who just like art and want to learn how to put art into theater! The students will be looking at the different aspects of design and working with making their own sets for different well known shows. If a student would like to do this class but doesn’t concider themselves an “artist”, that is ok! It is still a valuable class that will teach them about different aspects of theater and of course it is really fun!
Script Writing: (Ages 10-18)
Script writing class will focus on how to create a plot of a play and how to structure a play. It will also allow students to write their own scenes and to actually act them out. This class gives students the fundamentals of script writing and it incorporates acting and scene work. This class is wonderful for those students who are interested in writing a script, and it allows all students who are interested in acting to be able to do scene work and act in groups.
